At the same time, the content on the four stages is linked to the offerings, solutions and innovations of our exhibitors and brands, who will be given plenty of space in the Expo, both literally and figuratively, to contribute their content.
The Expo is also a place to network, to have fun, to celebrate at the CX Party, to chat over a snack or a drink.

Digital platforms are continuously gaining ground in the logistics sector. In addition to marketplaces for logistics services and tracking platforms in the CEP (courier, express, and parcel) sector, platforms for the management and orchestration of entire supply chains are also finding more and more users. In this panel discussion, we will explore the question of how the use of modern digital platforms impacts cybersecurity.

Drive-through scanner digitises logistics
VisionPort from Invisium optimizes processes right at the garage door
In 1947, Red's Giant Hamburg built the first drive-through restaurant in Missouri, USA, changing mealtimes forever. Nearly 80 years later, we've perfected the recipe to do the same for logistics and warehousing. VisionPorts from Invisium digitize the goods transported on a pallet during operation. A dozen cameras generate hundreds of images and apply AI and traditional machine vision algorithms to detect, identify and analyze the transported goods in seconds. The possibilities of Industry 4.0 allow the gantries to learn new things every day, enabling ever new applications such as automatically checking incoming and outgoing goods, end-of-line checks and analyzing offline data to identify damaged or incomplete shipments.

The decision between make or buy is of strategic importance in spare parts logistics. In-house logistics offers control, flexibility and fast response times, but requires high fixed costs and investment in infrastructure and personnel. Outsourcing enables cost efficiency, scalability and access to specialised expertise, but carries risks such as dependence on service providers and loss of direct control. In this session, the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches are analysed, practical examples of successful strategies are presented and decision-making criteria such as costs, service quality and flexibility are discussed. Todays and future supply chains are regarded as brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible. As supply chain professionals we are optimizing supply chains for cost effectiveness, performance improvements, sustainability and - pushed by the conditions above - agility. The world of sustainability regulations is changing. New reporting obligations and standards bring challenges, but also opportunities. Early and strategic implementation can create competitive advantages. However, a structured approach is required to utilise the potential:

  • Gain clarity: Understand relevant regulations.
  • Evaluate effort: Estimate cost and resource requirements.
  • Leverage sustainability activities: Highlight existing initiatives.
  • Develop new business areas: Develop offerings such as supplier scouting or sustainability consulting.

Companies can minimize risks and open up new opportunities by acting proactively. At the same time, they make a positive contribution to society and the environment.

German Award for Supply Chain Management: The DENKINGER Rail∙Hub - setting the course for the future

Description

In keeping with BVL's motto for the year, ‘Empower to Unite’, the cooperation between Denkinger Internationale Spedition GmbH and Liebherr represents a partnership in which the course is already being set today for the most important topics of the future: digitalisation and sustainability.
The DENKINGER Rail∙Hub consists of two transshipment halls along a two-kilometre-long track system, into which goods trains can enter directly and be unloaded using special equipment such as heavy-duty cranes, transshipment excavators, forklifts and reach stackers. In addition to the reactivation of a railway track, the construction of the modern wooden hall, the integration of translucent PV modules and the use of electric trucks, a sustainable overall concept was created that is optimised by digital projects developed in-house.
At the same time, the vision of connecting north and south by rail was realised, which also forms the basis for intermodal transport and combined transport with significant CO2 savings.

Omnichannel Logistics Strategies in Retail and Wholesale

Thursday, October 24 2.00 - 2.45 p.m.
Back
LanguageGerman
Description

Increasing complexity of sales channels requires strategic adaptation of logistics processing as “enabler” in the backend of omnichannel commerce. High logistics costs arise due to particular intensity of transportation, warehouse complexity and considerable flexibility requirements in order processing. However, service requirements of B2B and B2C customers in the various sales channels continue to increase. For retailers and wholesalers, this results in a conflict of objectives between necessary cost optimization and service expansions expected by customers. The session gives an overview on the current status of omnichannel logistics in wholesale and retail, examines logistics strategies, classifies current logistics challenges and ventures an outlook on logistically relevant developments.

Description

At the beginning of 2027, a digital, distributed network is set to become operational across Europe, enabling logistics companies to provide freight transport information digitally during inspections. By then, EU member states must implement interoperable systems to be able to accept electronic freight transport information (eFTI). The objectives are greater efficiency in freight transport, digital connectivity with authorities, faster and more targeted inspections, up-to-date transport data, fewer language barriers through multilingual eFTI datasets, better enforcement of national and EU regulations, increased safety for emergency personnel, and more efficient operations, such as during hazardous material incidents.

Description

Simply saving CO2 in retail logistics is a thing of the past. The significant reduction of emissions is certainly still a key issue. However, sustainable developments in the retail supply chain also mean ensuring availability from traceable sources. The new Supply Chain Duty of Care Act sets the bar high for this. However, savings are also required in the area of product and transport packaging. National legislation and European regulations are paving the way for a higher reusable quota from production to the end consumer. This session will show you how companies are facing up to the challenge of sustainability in and with retail logistics.

Description

The conclusion of this year’s Young Professional activities will be our tour of the Expo area. The starting and ending point will be the BVL Lounge. From here, we have planned an exciting tour for you that showcases a cross-section of the Expo and the entire logistics world. Of course, a few interesting stories about BVL and the network are not to be missed.

The exhibitors will take the time to explain their role in logistics and within the BVL network. The number of participants is limited by the availability of microphones and headsets – first come, first serve. The technology will enable you to follow the exciting tour with ease.

Afterwards, a group photo is planned to conclude the event.
