Entry procedure
Are your logistics concepts innovative? We're looking for winners!
The international supply chain management community comes together every year in Berlin, where around 3,000 participants from more than 40 nations meet up at the BVL Supply Chain CX. The event provides the perfect setting for an award ceremony. A certificate and the sculpture "Das Gespräch" (the dialogue) made exclusively for the winner by the Worpswede sculptor Waldemar Otto are visible symbols of success.
As a neutral and globally active association with about 10,000 members from the top echelons of industry, commerce, services and academia, BVL generates ideas and stimuli for future-oriented logistics concepts. Innovation and operational excellence underpin the competitiveness of companies in Germany and abroad.

Conditions of participation
The German Award for SCM is open to companies in the fields of industry, trade and the service sector. The size of the participating company or companies is not important. Entrants may submit descriptions of innovative methods and processes that have resulted in improvements to SCM and logistics. The entered concepts must already have been implemented in the real world. All entries and evaluations will be treated in strict confidence, and all involved parties have given undertakings to this effect.
The entry process is a multi-stage process comprising self-assessment and feedback conversation followed by preparation and submission of the final documents.
The three stages of your entry
1. Self-assessment

- Please complete the questionnaire by April 30, 2024. Be as specific as possible, and use typical logistics indicators where you can.
2. Feedback conversation
- After we have received and processed your questionnaire, we will be happy to provide feedback and our assessment by phone and give you recommendations for the further submission procedure.
3. Submission of entry documentation
- Please submit the final entry documentation by midnight on June 30, 2024 (time of receipt by the BVL IT system) in digital format only to Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL). The e-mail address is: dlp@bvl.de, and you should write "Entry for German Award for SCM 2024" in the subject line. Following the receipt of your entry, you will be sent a receipt confirmation by e-mail within three working days.
- Please submit your entry documentation in PDF format in the German or English language in DIN A4 format on a maximum of 20 pages including title page. It must be printable on standard office printers. The entry may be supplemented with multimedia content, but the written entry documentation is the primary basis for the decision of the jury members.
- The entry documentation must outline the development and implementation of the concept as well as, in particular, the achieved results. Entrants may submit descriptions of innovative methods and processes that have resulted in improvements to SCM and logistics.
- The entered concepts must already have been implemented in the real world Theoretical treatments or declarations of intent will not be accepted. Please be as specific as possible. Facts and figures play a key role in the decision of the jury. The outlined successes and results should be underpinned by typical logistics indicators.
- The manuscript must be unpublished and must in particular not have been used in an entry for another competition. It is essential that you provide full details of the company and the responsible author.
Selection of the award winner
The jury nominates the three best entries. At the end of August, all entrants will be informed whether they are among the three finalists.
The concepts of the finalists are reviewed by a team of experts at the beginning of September, and the jury then makes the final decision on the winning concept. The award winner and the second and third placed entrants will be informed by phone and in writing.
The decision of the jury is final.
The award ceremony is held during the International Supply Chain Conference, usually at the Gala Evening on day one of the conference.
The award permits BVL to make appropriate use of the contents of the entry for the purpose of providing information to its members and the public at large.
