Creating links between value added in networks is the common core focus of logistics activities. Even if the current debate is dominated by keywords like "global logistics" and "international supply chain management", regional networks and therefore the concept of the "cluster" have become increasingly important in recent times.
Cluster formation is a trend that is gaining ground in many areas and that is also promoted by the political powers-that-be in the form of so-called cluster development. This trend was quick to become established in the logistics sector, which is now playing a pioneering role through the creation of logistics initiatives and logistics clusters.
Within the context of a working group chaired by Hans-Christian Pfohl and Professor Ralf Elbert from Darmstadt Technical University, BVL is currently investigating the status quo of these developments together with the spokespersons of the 29 BVL regional groups. The initial outcome of this comprehensive investigation was the identification and profiling of 30 logistics initiatives in Germany. This overview (German) is regularly updated and supplemented with additional information.
