Abstract
In many industries supply chain flexibility is becoming a more and more important concept for gaining competitive advantages. By the design and use of strategic supply chain networks significant improvements of supply chain flexibility can be achieved. The article identifies resources, objects and parameters of supply chain flexibility and highlights the potentials of a strategic supply chain network to realize high supply chain flexibility. The findings are relevant for both scientists and practitioners, who are interested in supply chain management. It is demonstrated how to manage the structural, technological and human potentials of the strategic supply chain network to gain outstanding supply chain flexibility.
